Are you lovers of winter, snow and ice? If the vision of holidays on a sandy beach does not appeal to you, and you would change a tropical bungalow for a hut in the snowy mountains, or even an igloo, you will probably also love the ice hotel!
The Ice hotel is located in the north of Sweden, in the village of Jukkasjärvi. The largest ice hotel occupies an area of 5,500 square meters. It was built with 1,000 tons of ice and 30,000 tons of "snice," which is the material resulting from mixing ice with snow. Typically, it is used to build ice hotels.
You will find there a bar, a restaurant, and an amazing design. Each room includes snow sculptures created by different artists.
This unique hotel is missing just one thing - the heating! There is also no plumbing. In return, each room is equipped with a sleeping bag, which was tested on the Pole. Every year, about 50 000 people from all over the world arrive here not only to see the ice works, but most of all - to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, slow down, enjoy the peace and quiet and - to see the Northern Lights.
To build the ice hotel in late April and early May, the ice from the Torne River is collected and stored through the summer in special freezers. Hotel is"built" in late November and early December; it runs from December to mid-April, when everything slowly begins to melt. The hotel then returns to the Torne River.
The Ice hotels are works of a remarkable significance. Each hotel is a unique work of artists, architects and designers from all over the world. What is the most relevant to is that thay are arised from natural resources. This is the place where the combination of human creativity and natural resources forms the true miracles!
