Common heather - a beautiful plant which, moreover, has given its name to the ninth month in the calendar. Heather is not only beautiful but it also a useful plant; bees love it and heather honey is considered as one of the best.

Heather is a low-growing dwarf shrub, it is rich in simple phenols, heterosides, tannins, flavonoids, triterpenes, phenolic compounds and steroids.

Heather flowers are used as a raw herb, they should be collected at the beginning of the flowering period; heather is a good cure to combat urinary tract infections and genital ones since it has antibacterial, antiseptic and diuretic properties.

Heather should not, however, be used by pregnant women and during lactation, as well as the children under the age of 12 years. In case of liver failure, kidney and heart problems, each use should be discussed with your doctor.
