Heatwave makes us buying large quantities of bottled water. Drinking water is good for our body, but is the bottled water really the best choice? Mizu- Japanese company draws attention to the environmental costs of such a solution. Every year, the world produces 50 billion plastic beverage bottles. In the USA, only 1 of 5 plastic bottles is recycled, the world ratio is even smaller, because 1 of 10 bottles is recovered. It means that every year 40 billion plastic bottles ends up in the oceans and landfills.
Each year, 17 million barrels of oil are used for the production of plastic bottles, it is just the amount burned out by a million cars in a year. To produce 1 plastic bottle of water, 3 bottles of water must be used! Water from the tap, according to the EWG.org, is tested 480 times per month with regard to various types of pollution. Meanwhile, bottled water is tested only once a week. Whats more - 40% of bottled water comes from the tap – as Mizu reports. Another argument that should be taken into account while selecting the water to drink, is BPA. It is a synthetic estrogen used as a binder in the production of most plastics. It makes the bottles strong and transparent. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has confirmed that BPA penetrates water in plastic containers and can cause a variety of health problems. Though many plastics manufacturers say that they do not use BPA in the production- there have been no studies to confirm it.
For all these reasons, Mizu decided to produce steel water bottles. Recycling steel and scrap metals market seems to be in a better condition than the one that deals with recycling plastic. Each year, North America recovers more steel than plastics. On average Mizu bottles consist of 25%, recycled steel – e.g. from fridges or ... samurai swords. Mizu beverage containers are made of food stainless steel. This type of stainless steel is durable, easy to disinfect and resistant to corrosion. Stainless steel is a safe solution, because no chemicals migrate to the beverage, as is it the case of plastic or aluminium. In contrast to disposable plastic bottles and aluminium containers, Mizu bottles are 100% free of BPA.
Let us present financial arguments. A consumer in the USA uses on average 234 bottles of water per year, the cost of which reaches on average 346 dollars. Bottled water costs 10 dollars/ gallon! Meanwhile, the tap water costs about 0,0015 dollar/ gallon. Mizu bottle, where we can pour the tap water costs 18,95 dollar and can be used all the life long. Mizu produces bottles of the highest quality and provides a lifetime guarantee on it!
It all started with M series of Mizu bottles. It is a basic model with one wall made of stainless steel. The bottle has an ergonomic design, thanks to it, while drinking, the water does not spill even on a bumpy road. These bottles are offered in juicy colours and funny patterns.
After the success of the famous M series, Mizu designed vacuum insulated V series, which maintains the temperature of hot drinks for 12 hours. The temperature of the cold drinks is maintained by bottles for up to 18 hours. V line bottles are perfect for everyday use, whether on a hot, summer day at the beach or at a temperature of 20 degrees below zero in the mountains, where hot chocolate is what every traveller needs the most. Reusable water containers are more healthy – for both the environment and the humans. They help reduce the amount of waste bottles and disposable cups and they reduce the amount of BPA, which together with the water get into the body.
