The holiday season has started, which means that we all will often drive hundreds of kilometres in their cars to go on holidays. During long trips, especially in the summer it is easy to feel fatigue, nervousness and lack of concentration. Additionally there comes the temptation to reach the destination faster, resulting in crossing the speed limit. Trainers from Renault Safe Driving School advise how to get to the awaited vacation safely.

Keep leg off the gas
More haste, less speed, especially while speeding, we can risk our, passengers’ and all road users’ health. Let us remember that we can not only cause an accident, but we can also get a high ticket. Unfortunately, police statistics show that the summer months are the worst in terms of the number of accidents in comparison with other months of the year. That is why we should reduce speed and be careful while going on vacation.

Relax before driving
Fatigue reduces concentration and increases time of the reaction, and this directly corresponds with safety of driving. Stops are needed, they should be done every 2-3 hours. During a long trip, at least two drivers should be in the car. If there is no one who can change us behind the wheel, we should plan the trip, in such a way as to have time for a long rest or to spend a night. Before the planned trip, the driver should have a rest, and time of driving should be chosen according to day schedule of a driver, avoiding hours, when sleepiness is felt most frequently. In addition, it is worth remembering that it is not good to eat large meals because they enhance drowsiness.

Put away phone
Using a mobile phone while driving is extremely dangerous and can completely distract driver. Therefore, while driving you should avoid reaching for the phone and keep to a minimum actions such as adjusting the radio or navigation, and to avoid taking your eyes off the road and hands off the wheel. In such situations, ask passengers for help. But they also should behave appropriately and should not distract the driver by engaging him/her in conversation absorbing or showing views.

Prepare your car
Before traveling, make sure that the car is in a good condition and roadworthy enough so we can hit the road. Do not forget about basic things: condition of the tires, the oil level, lights and wipers. In addition, we should check the condition of fluids and, if necessary, exchange or add them. Additionally we can check air conditioning, in order not to worry about comfort when driving on hot days.

One mans meat is another mans poison.
If you are planning a foreign trip before leaving, you should read the rules of countries you pass through. Ignorance does not relieve drivers of their responsibility for breaking traffic laws and may jeopardize safety. Let us remember that there are differences in graphic road signs, there can be various speed limits and requirements on the mandatory car equipment - suggest trainers.
