Apitherapy, or treatment using honey and bee products, has been used for centuries in traditional medicine. Types of honeys vary not only in taste, but also in their properties. Today we take a look at lavender honey. Honey lovers are delighted with almost every taste of honey. Unfortunately, I personally do not belong to this group, that is why lavender honey is for me an exceptional discovery. It is the only honey, which I consume in large amounts.

Lavender honey has different smell, taste and consistency than other, commonly known and available honey. Lavender honey is thick, it has a beautiful golden colour and absolutely unique taste. Due to the fact that bees produce it using lavender, the honey contains significant amounts of essential oils that have antiseptic (disinfectant), hypotensive (lowering pressure) and calming properties. It can be used in treatment of colds and flu and all respiratory diseases.

Thanks to its calming and spasmolytic properties, it can also be used to relieve symptoms of digestive disorders, including stomach, intestines and liver diseases. It calms the nerves and heart, it can be used in fighting insomnia and headaches. Lavender honey applied topically accelerates wound healing and relieves itching and burning after stings.

Bon Appetit!
