Nature has given us a lot of medicinal plants. In ancient times, natural medicines were used very often, to treat patients and to prevent diseases. The development of civilization has led, however, to reaching for synthetic drugs rather than the natural ones. But the latter are much healthier and more secure. It is worth taking them when drugs from pharmacy are not necessary.

Herbs can always be taken in many illnesses. For example, during cold, it is better to reach for a cup of linden tea, than a synthetic drug for flu. But there are much more species of herbs, which should be present in your medicine cabinet.

Marigold – has strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is indispensable for skin diseases. Moreover, it has anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties, it accelerates wound healing, it has relaxant and cholagogic properties. When applied externally, it is used in inflammation of the skin, mucous membranes of the mouth and throat, with wounds difficult to heal.

Nettle – it often grows in the fields and meadows, it contains a lot of nutrients: vitamins, minerals, organic acids. It slightly lowers blood pressure and blood sugar level.

Peppermint – it can often be bought in mixes with other herbs. Mint stimulates the appetite, it has a beneficial effect on the digestive system, it is used to treat insomnia, migraines, and neuralgia. It should be drunk in stomach pain, colic, menstrual pain. It has disinfecting and slightly anaesthetic properties.

Lemon balm – it has spasmolytic, calming properties and it stimulates digestion. It is helpful particularly in nervous exhaustion, chronic fatigue, headaches and menstrual pain. It is also helpful in digestive disorders.
