"Back to the past"

Do you remember "Back to the Future" movie? And what about "Back to the past" as a perfect idea for a trip with your child! For example,  to the Skansen (open air museum) in Chorzów - an exceptional place where time has stopped.

Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park is a real trip back in time. The park, which covers an area of 22 hectares, has nearly 70 historic, wooden objects. We can see there, old wooden barns, a mill, a windmill and cottages. The oldest of them was transported from Istebna and it is from 1794.

The gathered monuments of folk architecture come from the five sub-regions of Upper Silesia (Beskid, podgórski, Pszczyna-Rybnik, industrial and Lubliniec region) as well as Dabrowa Basin region. Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park is on the trail of wooden architecture in Silesia region.
Open Air Museum can be visited independently or with a guide. It is worth thinking about it, because while sightseeing, for sure, there will be various questions that no one will answer better than the guide.

Sightseeing Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park also can be planned depending on the subject we are interested in. Skansen proposes several themes: the village of Upper Silesia and Coalfield region, the old magic trail, trail of vanishing professions, carriage ride through the village, the sky among everyday life. In the park there are a lot of weekend events and various workshops, during which you can not only watch, but also learn different crafts.

Skansen is open from May to September on Mondays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, admission till 4:00 pm walking tour - interior not open; Tuesdays-Sundays from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, admission till 6:00 pm, walking tour - interior not open.

Ticket prices: Mondays: Free admission (walking tour, interior not open). From Tuesday to Sunday: Normal ticket: 7,00 zł, half fare: 5,00 zł, half fare for teachers - tutors and groups of people with disabilities and their carers: 1,00 zł. Excess fare for a guide for individual visitors: in Polish - 5 zł per person, in English - 15 zł per person, for a family ticket - 10 zł (guide in Polish only).
