It is more often used in cooking, but it more often appears also in cosmetics. Due to its high content of vitamins, it is good for our health and beauty. It reduces the risk of heart diseases, and lowers the level of cholesterol in the blood... It turns out that coconut oil can also be an excellent alternative to expensive chemical toothpastes.

Coconut oil is a vegetable oil obtained by pressing and heating of copra - the tough flesh of coconuts. This oil is a valuable source of B vitamins group as well as folic acid, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, and zinc. It has also saturated and unsaturated fatty acids (almost 90%!), which are very important for the proper functioning of the body.

Thanks to the growing popularity of coconut oil, you can buy it now in the majority of bigger stores. It is important to check whether the oil is unrefined and cold pressed, because it retains most of its properties then. Surprisingly - coconut oil nourishes the mouth. You can easily make a toothpaste of it, it will be a great replacement for the popular pastes, produced by global corporations.

The results of the latest research, conducted by scientists from the Athlone Technology Institute have shown that coconut oil under the influence of digestive enzymes suppresses the growth of Streptococcus mutans and thereby – prevents the development of caries. It is extremely important because today the problem of caries affects between 60 to 90% of children. And this is not the end of the beneficial properties of coconut oil.

A unique composition of fatty acids in coconut oil inhibits the growth of most strains of bacteria and yeast, such as Candida albicans, causing the formation of thrush, or Streptococcus mutans - the main factor responsible for the growing of caries. Fats under the influence of digestive enzymes turn into acids, which effectively improve the health of the entire mouth. Ecological pasta removes harmful germs, but it also reduces the likelihood of bleeding of the gums and in long-term it makes the enamel whiter!

How to make the paste? Its easy!
